Adonis and the Lockdown Tactics, Machinima, digital video and audio recorded in The Sims 4, 4’05”, 2020
Adonis and the Lockdown Tactics is a short machinima film created in The Sims 4 as a response to the COVID-19 lockdown, and is one of 50 short films awarded by the Cypriot Cultural Services in an initiative to support audio-visual creativity during the pandemic.
In sci-fi narratives, the Simulation Hypothesis often unravels once a glitch causes the system to repeat something over and over.
The film, created with the intention to be played in a loop, finds Adonis (Sim) trapped and bored at home due to the quarantine, repeating quotes from Groundhog Day, a 1993 film by Harold Ramis. In the movie, Bill Murray plays Phil Connors, who is trapped in a time-loop and is forced to indefinitely relive the day of February 2nd.
